Former KISS FM host Andrew Kibe has recounted how he lost millions after losing his YouTube channel.
The controversial content creator lost his YouTube channel, which had close to 500k subscribers, in September last year.
Responding to the termination, Google said Kibe tricked the video-sharing platform by uploading videos using a secondary channel after he was restricted from using his primary account for violation of YouTube’s terms of service.
“Kibe violated YouTube’s Terms of Service. While he was restricted from using YouTube features, including uploading videos on his channel, he used another channel to get around these restrictions, aka circumvention, resulting in termination of all his channels,” Head of Communications at Google Africa Dorothy Ooko said.
On his part, Kibe claimed that the termination of his YouTube Channel was planned, adding that he had complied with the Google rules.

“It wasn’t because I said something; it was because it was a targeted attack. It was somebody so powerful. I only had one copyright strike that was expiring in like a week. ”
“I’m the person who had the most YouTube videos as a Kenyan, and then they came for channels that did not even have that content. It was a targeted strike,” Kibe, who was speaking on the Iko Nini Podcast, said.
He went ahead to question why all his channels were suspended, yet he did not do anything wrong.
“I did not do anything wrong. I had over 3,000 videos on YouTube, and I had only one copyright strike when they pulled down my channel.”
“And they did not just pull down one channel; they pulled down all my channels, the ones that were monetized and un-monetized,” he added.
The suspension was a major blow to Kibe, who was among the highest-paid Kenyan YouTubers. Prior to the suspension, Kibe was reportedly making about Sh1.6 million from the platform monthly.
