Betty Az Youtube: The United States of America is the land of milk and honey. This is what many Kenyans believe. In fact, when a family bids their loved one goodbye at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, their hearts are full of hope and expectation that soon, they will be receiving bucketfuls of dollars.
When no dollars are sent back home, the family member who was sent to the US is considered stingy and forgetful of the people who stood by him when he sought to relocate to the US. This perception is largely due to the untold truth of living in the US. This untold truth has now come to light thanks to a Youtube video that was posted by a Kenyan known as Betty who lives in Arizona, Phoenix, US.
In the video, Ms. Betty explained why holding one job in the US is not good enough, how the federal system, bills and taxes consumes hundreds of Kenya shillings every month, and why most people have to work two to three jobs just to get by. Ms. Betty explained that woe unto you if you are put on child support, because the US system will make deductions on your pay, failure to which you might land in jail.
Below is the Betty Az Youtube video that brought to light the other side of Kenyans battling to make a living in the US that is often not told:
