The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has become talk of the town following a tender for the supply of assorted wines and spirits amidst wide calls by the public for austerity in the government.
The tender appeared on the official CBK website section for tenders under the tender number CBK/161/2023-2024 and was initially set to close last month on June 17. On June 14, the CBK issued an addendum on the tender with its status up until now showing the tendering procedure to be still open.
The supply of the assorted wines and spirits was for the Kenya School of Monetary Studies for a period of one year.
The tender was open to persons living with disabilities and the youth under the Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO).

This tender was issued together with another tender for the supply of meat and assorted meat products to the Kenya School of Monetary Studies for a period of one year.
The addendum listed additional requirements that interested bidders would be required to meet. These included providing a list of at least 4 corporate clients and contacts to which the bidder has supplied assorted goods, a storage facility or physical facility with evidence of ownership, rental receipts or lease agreement.
The bidder would also need to provide at least one adequate distribution vehicles and show evidence of ownership or leasing documents. The distribution vehicle is was required to be a van, pickup, lorry or saloon.
