Central Bank of Kenya governor Patric Njoroge has scooped the African Central Bank Governor of the year Award at the 51st Annual meeting of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Lusaka, Zambia.
Dr Njoroge was feted for strict policing of the sector ad fiscal policies which have seen Kenya enjoy the lowest inflation since 2013. According to the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Njoroge had re-established order as he sanitizes the banking sector in his country and called him an exceptional leader.
Over the past one year, Dr. Njoroge has ruffled the banking sector, and seen three banks which include Imperial Bank and Dubai Bank placed under receivership. Last month, he helped troubled Chase Bank which had been closed down due to illegal insider loans reopened under the supervision of KCB.
