Leaked details of how former President Daniel Arap Moi distributed part of his multi-billion empire have also brought to light his death certificate, revealing what actually caused his death.
According to a report that appeared in a local daily, a death certificate for the former late president showed that he succumbed to recurrent pneumonia.
Moi’s death was caused by asystole due to septic shock due to candid and klebsiella septicaemia due to recurrent pneumonia, details contained in the death certificate show. Moi died on February 4, 2020, at the age of 95 years.
In addition to this, the details also revealed that Mr. Moi left his daughters liquid cash while his five sons got hundreds of hectares under the Kabarak University trust. The share of for the sons was set in a such a manner that it will benefit late Moi’s grand kids.
The sons are listed in the will as Jonathan Kipkemboi Moi, Raymond Moi, John Mark Moi, Philip Moi and Gideon Moi. The late Moi had however excluded the 19.7-acre Muthaiga land, registered as LR No. 12422/19, from his Will dated November 15, 2005.

A report in the media showed that Moi first wrote his Will on November 15, 2005, four years after leaving power and 14 years before his death. He amended and rewrote the Will on March 30, 2010.
The former late president is said to have been worth over Sh. 400 billion at the time of his death in February 2020. It was however not clear how the rest of the wealth left behind by Moi was divided amongst his children and dependents.
