Felisters Gitau has been named as the new Farmer’s Choice CEO. This follows the exit of James Taylor from the position after leading the firm for 40 years.
Prior to her appointment as the new chief executive, Felisters was the company’s Deputy Managing Director at the Commercial Division. She had been serving in this position since 2022. Her appointment took effect on November 1, 2024.
“Having previously served as Deputy Managing Director, Commercial, I look forward to enhancing the exceptional legacy established by Mr. James Taylor for the last 40 years and driving the next phase of growth, innovation plus excellence in the meat industry through customer experience, automation of processes, expanding production capacity and footprint across and beyond the continent,” she said.
In making the appointment, Farmers Choice stated that Felisters will bring over a decade of leadership experience in the FMCG sector, and a strong track record in commercial strategy, operational excellence, and marketing.
“She serves on the Steering Committee for the Kenya Livestock Sector Transformation under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development and is passionate about women empowerment and social impact,” the company said.
“Her immediate priorities for the business include customer experience, automation of processes, expanding production capacity and footprint across and beyond the continent.”
Felisters Gitau holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. She also holds a Master’s from the University of Nairobi.

The company added that the immediate former CEO Taylor will serve the company in a different capacity. “Mr. Taylor will remain active and instrumental in the in the strategic direction of the company.”
