Francis Atwoli is a renowned Kenyan politician currently serving as the secretary general of the Central Organization of Trade Unions, Kenya (COTU-K).
Born on June 6, 1949, in Kakamega County, Atwoli attended St. Mary’s School in Nairobi, one of the most prestigious institutions known for producing some of the country’s public figures.
He later won a labor scholarship to study at the College of International Labor Studies in Turin, Italy.
Throughout his career, Atwoli has served in various high-profile positions, including as General Secretary of the Kenya Plantation & Agricultural Workers Union, and Chairman of the East Africa Trade Union Confederation (EATUC) based in Arusha, Tanzania since 2005.
He was also an executive Board Member and is now serving as Vice President of the International Trade Union Confederation, ITUC, based in Brussels, Belgium, since 2005.

Additionally, Atwoli is the President of Trade Union Federation Eastern Africa (TUFEA) based in Khartoum, Deputy President of the Organization of Africa Trade Union Unity (OATUU) based in Accra, Ghana, and a Member of the National Labour Board of Kenya.
In recognition of his role in Championing for Social Justice, Atwoli has won multiple awards, including the Elder of both the Burning Spear (EBS) and the Moran of the Burning Spear (MBS) awards.
He is also a recipient of an honorary in Doctor of Humane Letters (Labour Relations) from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST).
The vocal politician has three wives and has sired 18 children.
