A man who was identified as Franklin Munyao has been arrested for murdering his girlfriend in the latest case of sexual and gender based violence. Munyao is said to have murdered his partner on Sunday, April 18 in Kambi Moto Village in Ruiru.
Munyao, 44, is a waiter by profession. According to neighbours, Munyao’s girlfriend was last seen in public on Sunday during daytime when hanging clothes on a clothesline in their residential plot.
On Tuesday, a foul smell started emanating from Munyao’s house. On noticing that they had not seen Munyao’s girlfriend for two days, alarm bells went off and the neighbours called the area police.
The police rushed to the house and broke down Munyao’s door. They found the deceased wrapped in a nylon bag and placed on the bed. Her trousers had slightly been lowered.
Munyao is said to have continued living in the house where he had stacked up the body of his girlfriend.

“We did not know the lady had been killed. Franklin Munyao would routinely leave the house in the morning and return in the evening,” said John Ngara, neighbour.
“We even saw him leaving for work this morning (Tuesday, April 20). We’re shocked to learn that he was staying with a dead woman’s body in his house,” added Ngara.
The murder comes barely days after the brutal murder of Catherine Nyokabi by his boyfriend, Evans Karani. It adds to a string of killings in romantic relationships that are occurring in the country.
