Grandma Leah Njeri Gachanja who was found dead at her home after nearly a year may have been murdered. This is according to detectives involved in the investigation surrounding her shocking death.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Homicide Unit say her death was a the work of a well-coordinated murder plot.
The body of 82-year-old grandma was discovered around nine months after her death. It was decomposed. The carcasses of her dogs and chickens were also discovered at her home.
“If you analyze the whole situation, and put into context her age, and the carcasses of over 20 chickens and dog which were already decomposed, you can rightly say that whoever did this planned to kill her,” a detective taking part in the investigation told local media.

A report in the local media further quoted detectives as saying that the person or persons who killed grandma Leah Njeri Gachanja was or were very well know to her.
“It is highly likely that whoever killed her by poisoning or by whatever means was well known to her and knew very well that place is not frequented by people so it was not easy for the body to be discovered,” two anonymous detectives involved in the investigations were quoted in the media.
Ms. Gachanja’s remains are currently at General Mathenge Funeral Home. However, according to the funeral home’s manager John Matere, none of her children or relatives had visited the funeral hom as at August 9, 2023 to view or claim her.
