Popular comedian and radio presenter at KISS FM Jalang’o alias Mzee Jalas has come to the rescue of an ailing boy who is seeking medical funds. Jalas, through his show Bonga na Jalas hosted Harun Gatari who has a medical growth in his hands and legs.
Gitari was seeking Sh. 3 million to help him go to India for surgery and treatment. Within hours, Mzee Jalas had raised the amount, with help from his media friends. The Sh. 3 million was topped up on another Sh. 2 million that Harun had managed to raise to meet the required treatment fee of Sh. 5 million. The first to donate was Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, who pledged to pay for Harun’s air ticket to India.

Media celebrity and news anchor Betty Kyalo contributed Sh. 50,000. Jalang’o’s co-host at Kiss FM Kamene Goro contributed Sh. 30,000, Milele FM Presenter Alex Mwakideu Sh. 20,000, politician cum lawyer Karen Nyamu Sh. 50,000. The Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) General manager John Bett, contributed Sh. 100,000, Kabi wa Jesus contributed Sh. 10,000, Executive Director of Ahadi Kenya Trust Stanley Kamau gave Sh. 50,000 and Jalang’o added Sh. 50,000.
A couple of hours later, Jalang’o announced that the Sh. 3 million figure had been achieved.
Harun Gatari shared that his strange condition had started with a small pimple. The pimple got swollen to a point where he was unable to use his hands. So far, he has undergone 15 surgeries in an attempt to fix his hands and legs without success.
