How bees attacked robbers and lead to their arrest.

How bees attacked robbers and lead to their arrest.

In Kakamega County, Emusanda village, bees attacked robbers who were suspected to have stolen a cow and a goat from Mr. Imbiaka, Tolibert. The three, Hillary Momanyi (Age 22), John Bukhazio (Age 28) and Wilnstorn Mutiele (Age 20) are the suspected thieves as a witness confirmed having seen them run off with a cow and a goat near a police post. Mr. Tolibert decided to make an official statement at the police station about his missing animals.

“He reported that his cow and goat had been stolen on Wednesday at Shibuli Police Post,”

said the police.

The police were however indolent at helping Mr. Imbiaka to find his missing animals. Mr. Tolibert Imbiaka grew weary of waiting for a report from the police and he decided to seek the services of a traditional medicine man in Kakamega County. The medicine man agreed to help Imbiaka find his missing cow and goat. He however needed to visit Mr. Imbiaka’s homestead and perform rituals at the cowshed and goat’s pen where the animals slept, for him to be able to trace the animals.

The news is surprising as well, as the three thieves were arrested in the following days having been attacked by a swarm of bees. Mr. Imbiaka was contacted by the police and upon arrival at the police station, he confirmed that the retrieved animals were his. It is said that the 3 bandits were from Mumias East sub-County.

“Today, three youths have emerged having been attacked by a swarm of bees. They were found in possession of the cow, while one of the robbers carried a goat on his shoulders,”

said the police.

The bees kept on swarming around the three thieves until the medicine man was called after which he administered medicinal herbs to the three. The bees disappeared after that. The three robbers have been under arrest and are waiting to be arraigned in a court of law.

The story is shocking. The question that beckons is, was it coincidence, luck, or the medicine man’s rituals? Bees have made a reputation for themselves in attacking thieves whenever they steal property. Bees naturally react when threatened or when protecting their colonies but they are more than ever continuously looking more like unexpected security especially in cases involving theft.
