Police officers in Parklands, Nairobi County, on Tuesday, recovered about Sh. 13 million hidden in sacks at a popular joint that sells joint (bhang) known as Kwa Mathe following a multi-agency operation at Kariwa Slums in Ngara.
The detectives raided the scene of the crime following a tip-off from locals before discovering the multimillion shillings alongside drug substances.
The exact amount of money recovered during the operation is, however, not clear, as the National Police Service (NPS) reported a total of Sh12.9 Million, while the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported a total of Sh. 13.4 Million.
The money which is suspected to have been obtained through drug peddling, was recovered alongside marijuana substances.

The primary suspect, a woman in her 50s, was arrested alongside three other minors aged between 16 and 17, who are believed to be part of the group.
”During the crackdown, four suspects, namely, Eugene Jumba, Hillary Jumbo, Sheila Withers, and Teresa Wanjiru, were arrested with 26 bags of Cannabis Sativa (Marijuana),’’ NPS stated.
During the operation, the officers also seized four cartons of rolling materials, 173 pieces of suspected blended bhang, and 42 cartons, each containing 200 pieces of cigarettes.
With the matter under investigation by the DCI Anti-Narcotics Unit, the four will be arraigned in court today and may face up to 10 years in jail or a fine of up to Sh. 250,0000.
