Former Tahidi High actress, Jackie Matubia has disclosed that she finalized her divorce documents during the Covid-19 period, an activity that left her pockets Sh. 300,000 thinner.
Matubia who was married to Kennedy Njogu, a pilot, split in the year 2019. The two started dating in 2014 and were blessed with a baby daughter in 2015, before calling it quits 4 years down the line.
“I used roughly Sh. 300,000 for the process; that would change depending on your case. If you guys have assets together, a problem with child support. There is just a lot,” she said.
Jackie Matubia cited that there were irreconcilable differences between them as the reason for their divorce. In an interview with Elizabeth Ngigi, the former Zora actress shared that the transition to being single after the end of her first marriage was difficult.
“There are a lot of hearings and so on. Mine was even traumatizing because it was during the Covid-19 period, so your case is mentioned, you can’t go to court, you do online, then it’s cancelled. That trauma got to me,” she went on.
Matubia maintained that after the disturbing experience, she finds it difficult to settle down permanently with another man. For the moment, she is not keen on having another white wedding.

“As someone who has been married before and gone through the scare of going through the divorce process, divorce in Kenya is not easy, and there is a lot of back and forth. You get scared of being married, getting that certificate.”
The mother of two girls recounted a scarring ordeal where her ex-husband left her with nothing, forcing her and her first-born daughter to sleep on the cold floor.
The toxic relationship left her deeply wounded, as she and her child could only hope for better days. Matubia had no stable job at the time and had to pull herself together for the sake of her daughter.
“Don’t be in a hurry, and if you can, just be open about it. I was open from day one even before the engagement. I was not sure I would go down that road of a church wedding,” Jackie Matubia shared.
“If someone is engaged for 10 years and not married yet, people should understand that some people are scared. I would even stay with the person in the house for over 15 years before I decide to do a wedding.”
