Jacque Maribe lands top job in CS Kuria's ministry days after murder acquittal

Former media personality Jacque Maribe has taken on the role of Head of Communications Officer at the Ministry of Public Service, under Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria.

The appointment comes shortly after Maribe was acquitted in the murder case of businesswoman Monica Kimani.

Maribe was found not guilty in the murder case of Monica Kimani. Justice Grace Nzioka stated that there was insufficient evidence presented to suggest that the former Citizen TV news anchor was involved in the murder on September 19th, 2018.

Maribe was charged alongside her former boyfriend, Joseph Irungu alias Jowie, who was found guilty. He is scheduled for sentencing in the coming weeks.

“The evidence of the prosecution against the second accused person did not place her in the house of the deceased on the material night. There was no evidence that she had ever communicated with the deceased,” said the judge.

Jacque Maribe’s successful career in the media industry, which was at its peak, was overshadowed when the murder case emerged. She initially left her job at Citizen TV but returned later, briefly serving as the editor in July 2019, while the case continued.

Afterwards, Maribe quit Citizen TV altogether and launched a YouTube show that was brought down after a few hosts made appearances in it, including Public Service CS Moses Kuria.

Political strategy consultant and digital journalist Dennis Itumbi took centre stage in celebrating Maribe’s achievement and thanking the Cabinet Secretary for ‘standing with a generation’.

“Congratulations, Jacque Maribe. May God bless you as you serve. Asante @HonMosesKuria for standing with a generation, please keep doing good and stretching your hand,” he wrote.
