JKIA ranked among top 10 best airports in Africa

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) was ranked the 10th best airport in Africa in a recent worldwide ranking conducted by Skytrax, a UK-based aviation consultancy firm.

The ranking was based on an assessment of the quality of service, on-time performance, and the passenger experience of a given airport.

”The Awards are based on the World Airport Survey questionnaires completed by over 100 nationalities of airport customers during the survey period, which operated from August 2023 to March 2024,’’Skytrax noted.

JKIA is the busiest airport in East Africa, boasting over forty passenger airlines and 25 cargo airlines.

In a bid to boost its capacity, the government is seeking to construct a new terminal at the Airport to handle more planes and passengers, thereby creating more jobs, boosting tourism, trade, and investment, and enhancing regional integration.

The terminal set to be completed before the end of the 2025/2026 financial year would handle a capacity of 20 million passengers annually.
