73 ‘planes’ to be auctioned for as low as Sh. 5,000. See the planes on sale

KAA Aircraft Auction: Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) will auction 73 uncollected junk aircraft at its four main airports for as low as Sh. 5,000. The planes are stationed at their yards at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Moi International Aiport, Wilson Airport and Lokichoggio Airport.

They are owned by among others, Somali Air force, Jetlink, Skyward, Eagle Aviation, Prestige Aviation, Fly540, Pan Africa Airways, and Planes for Africa.

Interested bidders have been asked canto view the planes from November 4-16 during normal working hours.

Auctions of aircraft at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Wilson Airport will be conducted on November 17. At Moi International Airport in Mombasa, the auctions will be done on November 19. At Lokichoggio, the planes will be sold on November 22.

“All interested purchasers are requested to view the items as per the dates and verify their respective details as these are not warranted by neither the auctioneer nor KAA as the items are being offered for sale ‘as is-where-is’,” the notice by KAA says.

The notice further said that bidders will have to pay a deposit of Sh. 100,000 per item on auction. Where the bid price is lower than the deposit price, the bidder will be refunded the difference after presenting a receipt. However, where the bid price is higher than the deposit, the bidder will need to pay not less than 25 percent of the total value. “The balance of the auctioned item must be paid within 24 hours (or) the award will be cancelled and the deposit forfeited and the item sold to the second highest bidder. Sale will be subject to the reserve price,” the notice stated.

The list of planes on sale

Two Somali Air Force planes- AN24 registration number 8204 and AN24 registration number 3C-ZZA are among the planes being auctioned, each at Sh. 73,000. They can be viewed at the JKIA.

The cheapest is a Planes for Africa aircraft HS748 S2-ADL going for Sh. 5,000 while the most expensive is Kundan Singh PA2 5Y-MIR being auctioned at Sh. 25 million.

A Tandrill PA2 5H-KLA is being auctioned at Sh. 6,800, while an AVMAX CRJ12 5Y-CCL is going for Sh. 7,500.

Others are Skyways DC-3 5Y-BMB at Sh. 38,250, Kate Flight DC-6 5Y-BRP at Sh. 52, 000, Flight Path AN-28A S9-PSV at Sh. 19,500, Eagle Aviation L410 5Y-GNT at Sh. 20, 750 and an Air Pannonia aircraft BE9 9A-SIB /5YSNS is being auctioned at Sh. 22.5 million.
