Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has announced the KCSE results release date.
In the announcement, Machogu has said that the results will be announced in the second week of January 2024. This implies that the results will be released between January 8 and January 12.
This will coincide with the same week that schools across the country will reopen for the new 2024 academic year.
Machogu explained that the Ministry of Education had completed the marking of the KCSE exams and was currently in the process of verification and validation.
“We are done with the marking. What we are currently doing is compiling the marks, verification and validation. You know it’s quite a process. So that by the end of the day, we release credible results,” said CS Machogu.
The results are expected to see a higher number of students qualify for university education following the introduction of a new grading system that is designed to increase the number of students who qualify for university slots. This new system was introduced in August 2023.
The results are expected to undergo intense public scrutiny after the KCPE results that were marred by controversy.

At the same time, it remains to be seen how widespread incidents of exam cheating that were reported during the KCSE 2023 exams will be handled.
