AFCON 2027 Host: Kenya wins bid to host Africa Cup of Nations

Kenya will be the AFCON 2027 host! This is after the country won the bid to host the Africa Cup of Nations competition. Kenya will host the competition alongside neighbouring countries Uganda and Tanzania.

The joint bid by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania defeated bids by Egypt, Senegal, Algeria, and Botswana.

The win now means that Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will automatically have teams in the competition.

Morocco will be the host of the 2025 competition after Nigeria and Algeria withdrew their bids.

Kenya previously won rights to host the continental football extravaganza. In 1996, the country was named as the host. However, Kenya was ill prepared and was eventually stripped off the rights to host the competition.

In 2018, Kenya once again won the rights to host the African Nations Championships. The government failed to prepare and the country was once again stripped off the hosting rights. It now remains to be seen whether the country will be ready in time to host the competition.
