Kenyan nanny Rose Atieno, virally known as Rosie, became a social media sensation following an emotional farewell with the four children she had been looking after at the airport.
Both parties seemed reluctant to part ways, resulting in an emotional atmosphere that brought the entire airport to a standstill.
Upon her return to Kenya, Rosie was awarded a fully paid holiday package to a destination of her choice from the CEO of Maasai Expeditions, Pancras Karema.
In an interview, the mother of three, Rosie, expressed the reasons behind her emotional departure from the Middle East nation.
Rosie, who hails from Siaya County, had been away from her children for nearly two years. Returning to Kenya would be an emotional experience for her, as she was overwhelmed with mixed emotions about reuniting with her children.
“I cried because I had mixed feelings about meeting my kids after two years and leaving kids I had taken care of for two years who treated me like their parents,” she said in the interview.
Rosie shared that she left Kenya in 2021 in search of greener pastures in the Middle East after her marriage hit a dead wall. This decision led to her getting the opportunity to work in Lebanon.
“I went in October 2021, and at that time, I was in a marriage that was not working, and I decided to go there and find greener pastures to be able to give my kids a good life,” Rosie went on.
Rosie had prayed for a kind family in the Middle East, especially after hearing stories about the mistreatment of domestic workers in Arab nations. Her prayers were answered when she first met the family at the airport.
She formed a formidable bond with the mother and the 4 children immediately. Rosie describes the family as ‘good people’ who are famous content creators in Lebanon.

“The first experience with the family was when we met at the airport, the mother of the kids just said, ‘Wow’ when she saw me. We blended from the first day,” she stated.
Rosie stated that living with the family was an exciting experience, even as she got to nurture the kids who filled the void of missing her children in Kenya.
“I felt like I was home. The only difference is that they were paying me. The kids appreciate me for who I am,” she added.
Rosie has revealed that plans are already underway to return to the Middle East nation and continue working for the family until the children are a bit older. She is, however, yet to set a date for her return to Lebanon.
