KRA announces mass auction of vehicles, office equipment

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a mass auction of vehicles and office furniture starting December 8.

In a notice on Tuesday, the taxman said the two-month exercise would be carried out in its offices in  Mombasa, Nairobi, Eldoret, Nyeri, Nakuru, and Kisumu, adding that motor vehicles will only be sold in select offices, including Nairobi, Kisumu, and Mombasa.

Among the vehicles set for the auction are the Toyota Hiace, Toyota Saloon, Volkswagen Passat, and Toyota Hilux. KRA will also auction various office equipment, including furniture, monitors, printers, laptops, keyboards, and routers.

Vehicles will be auctioned at the Supplies Office Along Likoni Road, while general office equipment will be available at the Time Towers basement in the Central Business District (CBD).

The auction will begin in Nairobi on December 8, 2023, before proceeding to Eldoret and Kisumu on January 23 and  January 31, 2024, respectively.

The exercise will continue on February 6 in Nakuru and proceed to Nyeri on February 14 and Mombasa on February 21, 2024.

Interested bidders have been urged to visit the named locations during normal working hours for the viewing exercise.

“Interested bidders must pay a refundable deposit of ksh50,000.00 per motor vehicle and ksh10,000.00 for other goods in the form of a banker’s cheque in favour of Phillips international auctioneers to obtain a bidding number,” KRA directed.

KRA further said that all the items set for auction would be sold at reasonable prices.
