KRA to auction over 90 vehicles. See models, how to bid

The Kenya Revenue Authority has announced that it will be auctioning over 90 vehicles. The vehicles will be auctioned on January 31 at the customs warehouse in Mombasa.

Some of the vehicle models set for auctioning include Toyota Land Cruisers, Toyota Probox, Toyota Noah, Toyota Harrier, Toyota Vitz, Toyota Tacoma, and Toyota Premio.

Others include Mazda Bongo, Mazda CX-5, Subaru Forester, Suzuki Swift, BMW X4, Mazda Axela, Mercedes Benz, Audi A3, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Nissan Caravan, and Land Rover Discovery.

The upcoming KRA auction will be conducted under Section 42 of the East African Community Customs Management Act 2004.

“Where any goods that have been deposited in a Customs warehouse are not lawfully removed within thirty days after deposit, then the Commissioner shall give notice by publication in the Gazette that unless such goods are removed within thirty days from the date of notice they shall be deemed to have been abandoned to Customs for sale by public auction and may be sold in such manner as the Commissioner may deem fit,” a portion of the law states.

Prior to the KRA auction, interested bidders will be accorded a chance to view the assets that are up for auctioning. This is expected to be done one week prior to the auction date.

However, prices for the vehicles have not been disclosed publicly, with interested bidders expected to table their bidding documents on or before January 31.

KRA recently introduced the iBid online bidding platform for various items. The platform allows persons looking to bid for various items to place their bids online and prior to the auction rate.
