The Kenya Railways Golf Club (KRGC) will, on Friday, 30 June 2023, host the Detour Golf Casino tournament, with hundreds of golfers expected to battle for titles.
The tournament, sponsored by Bizna Kenya, aims to provide members an opportunity to connect, network, and build long-lasting relationships.
It will bring golfers across the East African region together to showcase their talents. Winners will secure slots in the finals scheduled for July 29th 2023, at Thika Sports Club.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Detour Group Board of Directors chairman James Kusewa expressed his excitement for the milestone Detour has taken in providing quality entertainment services to business professionals.
Kusewa added that Detour promotes business and fosters strong connections between its sponsors and members.

“The Detour Casinos provide an avenue for businesses who would like to market their products and services to partner with Detour Golf to achieve this. For a minimal sponsorship fee that covers food and awards for the golfers, the sponsor is able to advertise to Detour Members and also get a chance to address the golfers during the award presentation ceremony.,’’ said Kusewa.
Detour Golf was started in 2014 as the flagship product of Detour, a company that was started with the aim of providing business professionals with quality entertainment services.
Detour Golf is a virtual golf club and is the first and currently the biggest golf club of its kind in the East African region. It brings together golfers and all other stakeholders in the golf industry, including service providers, golf clubs, golf societies, and governing unions, through a social platform.
“We convene our members through a Telegram Group that currently has over 1300 members from all over East Africa. Membership is free for all golfers or golf enthusiasts. The Detour Board organizes and runs golf-related events for their members, including Tournaments, Trips and Lessons,’’ said Kusewa.

Beginner golfers get a chance to train and explore golf courses all over East Africa. The Detour Golf Match Play Tournament, which is currently in its 10th season, dubbed Season X, brings together golfers from different golf courses to compete over a period of 5 months.
The championship is open to golfers from all golf clubs in Kenya. The current Season 10 has attracted over 120 golfers from over 20 different golf clubs from all over East Africa and is currently at the Quarter Finals stage, with the Finals planned for July 29th 2023, to be played at Thika Sports Club.
Joining Detour GolfÂ
Membership is free for all golfers. On registration, the golfers are organized into pools for the pool stage matches. During this stage, they play their matches in a round-robin fashion with all the pool members as they earn points.
The points they earn give them a ranking in the pool, determining which league they will join in the knockout stage. The knockout stages then lead to a grand Finale.
During the Detour Golf Casinos, golfers contribute Sh1000 towards prize money awarded to the day’s top performers.
