List of top-paying jobs in Kenya and salaries per month

The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) has revealed the most lucrative sectors for Kenyan job seekers.

In the Economic Survey Report 2025, KNBS revealed salaries earned by employees in various public and private organizations.

According to the report, Kenyans working in extraterritorial organisations and bodies such as the United Nations are the highest paid, with a monthly salary of about Sh353,048.

Top-paying industries in Kenya’s public sector

KNBS revealed that Kenyans working in the accommodation and food service industry are the top paid with an average salary of Sh249,863 per month.

They are followed by those in the transportation sector who take home a monthly pay of Sh217,737 per month. Employees in the financial and insurance sector followed with a monthly salary of Sh190,652.

Also in the list is the healthcare sector, with the average salary of doctors and other employees in the industry put at Sh153,478 per month.

Other top-paying public sectors were electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (Sh133,735), professional, scientific, and technical activities (Sh111,964), wholesale and retail trade, and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (Sh104,372).

Manufacturing (Sh96,167), information and communication (Sh88,564), and arts, entertainment, and recreation (Sh84,844) were also named among the top-paying industries.

Others are construction (Sh78,151), water supply, sewerage, waste management (Sh59,884), education (Sh59,784), public administration and defence (Sh57,204), mining (Sh48,686), and agriculture, forestry and fishing (Sh47,794).

Top-paying industries in Kenya’s private sector

Employees who work for international organisations are the top paid, followed by those in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply, with a monthly pay of Sh205,270.

Employees in the financial and insurance industry come third with a monthly pay of Sh198,082, followed by those in the administrative and support service activities, who take home Sh164,205 per month.

Other monthly top earners are professionals in the scientific and technical activities (Sh148,955), Transportation and storage (Sh144,471), Service activities (Sh119,360) and Information and communication (Sh113,751). Health and social workers take home Sh107,765 per month.
