Since celebrated show host Lynn Ngugi left digital media house Tuko, speculation has been rife on where she is headed next. With her prominence as a show host to reckon with, it has been rumoured that she may have been offered a more lucrative deal at a rival media station.
Now, the show host has come out to explain why she left Tuko and where she is going next. According to Ms. Ngugi, leaving Tuko was a decision she reached after realizing that she needed to move out in order to grow. In a YouTube Vlog, she explained that she had reached a point in her life where she needed to embrace new challenges.
However, Ms. Ngugi was quick to point out that in the meantime, she will not be joining another media house. Instead, she will now be running her own show through her own channel.
Withing days after leaving Tuko, the Lynn Ngugi YouTube channel saw her a huge increase in the number of subscribers. The channel went from a subscription of 40,000 to over 100,000.
The show host has set an ambitious subscription target of 500,000. She said that the Lynn Ngugi YouTube will be hosting the same life talk shows that she had been hosting at Tuko, something she wouldn’t have managed to do at Tuko due to conflict of interest.

Media analysts have suggested that Ms. Ngugi’s move might have been informed by the digital success that Tuko has had. In recent times, the digital space has emerged as a major source of news and entertainment, whose pie media houses in Kenya are scrambling for.
Analysts say that if Ms. Ngugi is able to transition a sizeable percentage of her followers to her YouTube channel, she could earn net profits of over Sh. 1 million from monetization of the channel alone.
