A Mercedes Maybach S600 that has been put up for auction has left many Kenyans in shock.
The high end vehicle is alleged to have been registered less than six months ago. In a notice that has been circulating online, the auctioneers have scheduled to sell the vehicle registered KDK 888X by auction on June 9, 2023.
According to the auction notice circulating online, the vehicle is currently stored at the Startruck Yard and will be auctioned by LAAR Auctioneers.
The notice states that the winning bidder will be required to pay for the vehicle in cash at the fall of the hammer.
The sale has left divided opinion with some Kenyans attributing it to the current tough economic times, and others saying it’s a well-crafted money laundering scheme.

Still, others commenting online have said the owner is making a well-calculated bid to re-acquire the vehicle at a lower price.
Other vehicles that were listed for sale by auction at the same yard included a Mercedes Benz C200 registration KCV, a BMW 320i registration KDD and a Toyota Crown registration KCN.
The auctioneers listed their terms and conditions for the auction as follows:
1). Cash at the fall of the hammer.
2). The bidding to be done through the office email or during auction date.
3). The auctioneer has a right to reject any bid without giving a reason.
4). The subject of sale is as it is.
5). All the interested bidders are requested to view and verify the details for this is not warranted by the auctioneers or our principal.
