Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have nabbed meth drugs with an estimated street value of Sh. 9 million.
The meth drugs which are formally know as metaphetamine drugs were hidden in bicycle saddles. They were enroute to Jakarta, Indonesia from Comoros.
“The drug estimated at over Sh9 million was stashed among other items declared as bicycle accessories in a consignment being shipped from Moroni, Comoros,” the DCI said in a statement.
“Operational detectives deployed at the airport to tackle immigration crime and suspicious cargo had converged at the DHL shed for a verification exercise, where brown packages with a white crystalline substance were found concealed in eleven saddles.”

Upon testing the substance, it tested positive for methamphetamine.
“Interpol operations have since been launched to identify the faces behind the illicit trade for arrest and prosecution,” said DCI.
The Director of the Anti-Narcotics Directorate, Margaret Karanja, issued a stern warning to drug traffickers and peddlers. She said they would be treated with the severity of the law, despite their roles in the trade.
