Michael Warutere, a pupil who recently completed his KCPE exams at Riara Springs Academy, secured the top position in the country by scoring an impressive 428 marks out of 500.
The results which were released by Education CS Ezekiel Machogu marked the end of the 8-4-4 curriculum in Kenya, ushering in a new era of learning.
In an interview with digital media journalists, the young boy said he would love to join Mang’u High School, maintaining that it has been his dream to pursue high school studies there.
“I would love to attend Mang’u High School, hopefully with these marks I will get a seat in that school,” he said.
Michael Warutere expressed surprise at the marks he scored, noting that they surpassed his expectations. Nonetheless, he remains in a jovial mood, celebrating the occasion and closing the curtains as the last KCPE’s highest performer.

“I feel ecstatic. I didn’t expect it. I anticipated to score 410 marks. God has helped me.”
He further explained that he aspires to become a Software Engineer in the future. His ambition for pursuing this career is to assist Kenyan farmers in utilizing technology to enhance agricultural productivity and improve the lives of Kenyans.
“I really thank God for the marks that he has granted me. I want to thank our parents and teachers for holding our hands and helping us succeed,” he added.
