I'm retiring from my TSC CEO job, Nancy Macharia announces

Dr. Nancy Macharia is retiring from her position as the chief executive officer of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). Dr. Macharia will retire as TSC CEO after leasing the organization for a period of ten years.

She started serving as TSC CEO in June 2015. In 2020, her contract was extended at the TSC.

“Sincerely, I have no words to express my most profuse appreciation to Knut for the utmost professionalism with which you have dealt with me over the last nine years,” said Dr. Macharia on Tuesday at the Kenya National Union of Teachers annual general meeting.

Dr. Macharia took over from Gabriel Lengoiboni who retired on June 30th, 2015. Her appointment followed the conclusion of a competitive recruitment process that started on May 1st, 2015 when the position was advertised.

The advertisement for the post of CEO attracted 69 candidates. Four were shortlisted. After two days of interviews, Ms. Macharia was selected to be the ninth, and first female, chief executive to head TSC since the first appointment in 1967.
