NCBA invites young Kenyans to apply for Go-Getter Internship program

NCBA Bank is once again inviting recent university graduates to apply for the third cohort of its Go-Getter Internship program, targeting young, ambitious and self-driven individuals.

NCBA launched the Go-Getter Internship program in 2023 as part of its Education Citizenship Agenda. The first cohort included 45 university graduates, while the second in 2024 had 51 participants.

The bank describes this as a chance for recent university graduates to secure positions within NCBA units, providing a strong start to their careers.

“NCBA take a lot of pride in developing future talent, because you are actually future leaders and in today’s world, it’s important that you are way more prepared than anybody else,” NCBA chief executive officer John Gachora remarked at the graduation ceremony for the second cohort.

The Go-Getter Internship begins around April each year runs for at least eight months, during which graduates participate in hands-on learning experiences. Moreover, it offers a competitive internship salary and an array of benefits.

Interns will gain real work experience by applying their knowledge to solve real business challenges. They will also have the chance to learn from experienced professionals across various NCBA departments who will mentor and guide them.

They shall be placed in departments such as Retail Banking, Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Human Resources, Finance and Regional Business. During the program, they will collaborate with cross-functional teams to gain an all-rounded knowledge that aligns with their career goals.

“It’s been a good journey for the 8-months. I have had a lot of support from my colleagues and the entire staff,” said Hilda Njoroge, a 2nd Cohort Go-Getter Intern.

“I’ve gained a lot of skills that I will transfer to any particular field that I get into. I’ve been able to learn the corporate world and engage in different activities that have enabled me to harness and transfer these skills to whatever roles I’ll pick out in the future,” noted Joel Kobara, another Go-getter alumnus.

The NCBA internship helps participants build their professional brand, improve interview skills, and more. Interns will also have the chance to network with NCBA professionals and connect with previous Go-Getter cohorts.

“Three Es that we talk about; Employee experience is the first. When we give our employees the best experience and put a smile on your face, you become the ambassadors for NCBA,” stated NCBA’s Group Director of Human Resources & Culture, Ms Monicah Kihia.

Customer Experience is the second E cannot happen if we don’t have the first E, and that’s why we’re investing in training you, equipping you with the skills that you need,” she added.
