New NTSA directive on collection of smart driving licences, digital plates

New NTSA directive on collection of smart driving licences, digital plates

On Friday, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) announced an upgrade to its portal, seeking to make it easier for people to collect their number plates and driving licenses.

According to the transport oversight authority, you can now use your Identity Card to search for uncollected driving licenses.

The NTSA stated that you no longer need to register to access their portal thus ensuring the process is free. Likewise, those looking to find their reflective number plates were directed to simply use the registration number of their vehicle or motorcycle.

“The Portal provides information on the location or centre where the smart driving licence or number plate should be collected from,” they stated.

NTSA also shared that the updated portal now includes a feature for raising any issues related to applications for smart driving licenses and number plate services.

“Feedback to clients upon resolution of complaints/concerns is sent through the email addresses provided by the client at the point of submission via the portal,” NTSA added.

This announcement follows a recent directive from Huduma Kenya that urged Kenyans to collect their uncollected documents, including driving licenses.

Huduma Kenya reported that approximately 45,575 smart driving licenses were still awaiting collection at various centres nationwide.

Kenyans who had applied for driving licenses were instructed to visit one of the 15 designated centres across the country to pick up their documents.

“Issuance of Drivers License Biometrics is available at our 15 select Huduma Centres Countrywide,” read part of the statement by Huduma Kenya.
