OVER 100 EXHIBITS FOR THE ANNUAL FLOWER SHOW

OVER 100 EXHIBITS FOR THE ANNUAL FLOWER SHOW

Over 100 exhibits will be displayed  in the annual Kenya Flower and Plant Show on Saturday May 26th and Sunday May 27th at the SSDS Temple on Lower Kabete Road.

The show is organised by the Kenya Horticultural Society, Nairobi District in conjunction with the Kenya Floral Arrangement society, with the help of sponsors including Dunhill Consulting Limited and Home Garden and Patio.

Sally Davey, the Nairobi District Chairman said, “This year’s show is bigger and more exciting with entries in all the 13 categories. One section will feature displays by Kenya Horticultural Society Districts and Kenya Orchid Society.

Other exhibits include cut herbaceous flowers, climbing plants, trees and shrubs, container grown plants, orchids, succulent plants, fruit, vegetables and culinary herbs and classes for children and gardeners.”

Mehul Sutar of Home Garden and Patio, said, “We are happy to support this year’s event. Plants potted in concrete planters make a great choice of décor for indoor and outdoor spaces. We shall be exhibiting flower pots in a variety of sizes, colour and designs and other garden furniture such as benches and swings.”

The judges will assess the exhibits on Friday and assign trophies for awards including best staged, exhibit with the best educational content, best rose exhibit, most artistically arranged, best display of cut flowers and many more.

The Show is open to the public on Saturday (10am to 5pm) and Sunday (10am to 2pm). There will be plants for sale and great raffle prizes to be won!

The Kenya Horticultural Society was established in 1923 by a group of people with shared interest in flowers, plants, trees and gardens. The Society currently has over 1,000 members and operates countrywide with eight geographical District offices. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in gardening and plants.
