Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has once again castigated the Supreme Court for upholding the election of Dr. William Ruto as the fifth president of Kenya.
Speaking on Friday, Raila alleged that the Supreme Court verdict was inspired by the devil, contrary to what he alleged was Chief Justice Martha Koome’s assertion that the Supreme Court was guided by God.
“CJ Koome has gone to a funeral in her village and defended the judgement. Supreme court is now in politics, she said the ruling was inspired by God, I believe it was inspired by the devil,” said Raila.
He singled out Justices Martha Koome and Isaac Lenaola for the blame. He claimed that Chief Justice Koome had destroyed the Judiciary through the Supreme Court ruling.
“CJ Koome’s actions are clearly sycophantic, she has demeaned the dignity of the office of CJ. In less than a year, she has destroyed what her predecessors achieved in 10 years,” he said.
Raila further alleged that the other levels of the general elections, the UDA party of Dr. Ruto rigged out candidates from the Azimio la Umoja coalition in order to guarantee a majority in the Senate and the National Assembly.
Raila: We can lead million people march to kick out Supreme Court judges
“At the presidential level it is not possible to tell whether we had elections at all. At the lower levels, I believe a number of our people were rigged out to pave way for a UDA majority,” he alleged.
Raila went to claim that the August 9 General Elections were the worst in Kenya since the return of multi-party politics in 1992.
Friday marked the second day that Raila was verbally attacking the Judiciary over the Supreme Court ruling. On Thursday, the ODM party leader had claimed that the Azimio la Umoja coalition was capable of organizing a one-million march to the Supreme Court to kick out judges who ruled against him.
He said this while attending the inauguration luncheon of Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir.
