The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) has released a fresh list on the richest and poorest counties in Kenya.
The report by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) defines households living in poverty as those earning below Sh. 3,252 a month in rural and peri-urban areas and Sh. 5,995 in major urban centres.
Coming on top are Nairobi and Central Kenya counties, while counties from North Eastern region have performed poorly.

1). Nairobi has the lowest share of poor people with 17 persons in every 100 living in poverty.
2). Nyeri and Meru are second with 17 persons in every 100 living in poverty.
3). Kirinyaga with 22 persons in every 100 living in poverty.
4). Narok, Kiambu and Machakos with 23 persons in every 100 living in poverty.
5). Tharaka-Nithi with 24 persons in every 100 living in poverty.
6). Murang’a with 25 persons in every 100 living in poverty.
7). Mombasa with 27 persons in every 100 living in poverty.
There are also counties that are reeling from excruciating poverty including:
1). Turkana with more than 79 in every 100 of its population living in poverty.
2). Mandera with more than 78 in every 100 of its population living in poverty.
3). Samburu with more than 76 in every 100 of its population living in poverty.
4). Busia with more than in every 100 of its population living in poverty.
5). Garissa with more than 69 in every 100 of its population living in poverty.
6). Marsabit with more than 63.7 in every 100 of its population living in poverty.
7). Wajir with more than 62.6 in every 100 of its population living in poverty.
8). Tana River with more than 62.2 in every 100 of its population living in poverty.
9). West Pokoto with more than 57.4 in every 100 of its population living in poverty.
10). Isiolo with more than 51.9 in every 100 of its population living in poverty.
