In his opening remarks for the debate, Gachagua introduced his family. Gachagua’s wife is pastor Dorcas Wanjiku and they have been married for 35 years.

The couple has two children who all happen to be boys; Kevin Gachagua and Keith Ikinu Rigathi. Rigathi Gachagua stated that his firstborn son is a software engineer while his last born is a surgeon/doctor.

His last born son, Keith Rigathi is an alumnus of the Alliance High School in Kiambu County.

He hit the headlines in 2010 when he emerged among the top students during that year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.

He scored a mean grade of A plain, with 86.92 points. He was ranked at number 17 in Kenya. Among boys, he was ranked at position 13th.

He then proceeded to his father’s alma mater, the University of Nairobi where he pursued a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at Chiromo Campus. He graduated in December 2019.

“After 30 years, I went back to the University at the graduation square this morning to witness the graduation of my last born son, Keith Ikinu Rigathi who was awarded a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery,” Gachagua stated in 2019.

“My wife and I were overwhelmed with excitement and indeed we are very proud parents. We thank God for his goodness in seeing Keith through a very difficult course that took him six years.” He added.

“As he starts working as a Doctor, I have reminded him that the profession is a calling and I am very happy he has joined me in the service to mankind.” Said a proud Rigathi Gachagua statement dating back to December 20th, 2019.
