Safaricom opens Mombasa regional headquarters

Safaricom, has opened a regional headquarters office in Mombasa and a retail shop in Malindi.

Speaking during the official opening of the coast headquarters in the upscale Nyali estate Monday Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore said the move was meant to bring its operations closer to its 2.2 million customers in the coastal counties of Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Taita-Taveta, Tana River and Lamu.

“By decentralising our operations and increasing touch points, we aim to serve our customers even better and enhance relationships as we continue on our mission to transform lives,” said Mr Collymore during the official opening in Mombasa.

ccording to the CEO of the leading mobile network operator the other regional offices will be Nairobi East and Nairobi West, Mt. Kenya Region and Western Kenya Regions that are expected to be operational by March in 2017.

The CEO added that Safaricom was supporting agriculture, health, water and education sectors in the regions to better the lives of Kenyans.

“For example through our corporate social responsibility functions we have just finished a Shs230 million water dam in Kwale County for agriculture and domestic use,” he said. Statistics from the CA indicated that the company added 669,594 new subscribers between July and September last year.
