Samidoh & Kamau Wanjiru: A tale of fame, money, women, destruction

“Samidoh is a young, hugely talented man. He is a hot cake. But he has decided to introduce chaos to his life and this storyline is all too familiar and always has one predictable end.

The women you associate with will make or ruin you. There are no two ways about this.

Many a young, talented man has been ruined by poor choices of women. A high value, talented man must only associate with high value women. Samidoh entertains women who will take him to an early grave or economic ruin.

No man ever recovers from chaos the kind of women Samidoh associates with can generate in their life. It would be tragic. If you know him, if you are an elder, reach out. The young man is crying for help!”

These are the words of Silas Gisiora Nyanchwani, a male awareness advocate and the celebrated author of ‘50 Memos to Men’.

Nyanchwani’s take on the chaotic lifestyle that has dominated popular singer Samidoh’s life resonate with what many are seeing as parallels between the life and fame of Samidoh and that of the late Olympic marathon champion Kamau Wanjiru.

Ida Odinga: People who dined at my home have now abandoned Raila

The two men are from the same county of Nyandarua. Samidoh is a police officer, and so was Kamau. They both grew in poverty and rose to fame out of sheer hard work, and pockets of luck along the way.

They started earning top money much earlier, in their twenties, compared to the average man. In fact, the late Kamau Wanjiru became a multi-millionaire in his twenties.

However, with his sudden fame that spread from villages in Nyandarua County to global cities in the United States, Europe and Asia, Kamau Wanjiru fell to the common trap that most successful men fall into: women!

He developed a long line of women besides his official wife and family. With the women came the alcohol, endless parties, fights, and pride. In the end, these became his downfall, and ultimately, women and alcohol sent him to an early grave.

On the night he died, Wanjiru is said to have picked a woman at a bar and restaurant in Nyahururu and taken her to his matrimonial home in Muthaiga Estate, Nyahururu Town.

He was busted by his wife Triza Njeri with the woman who was identified as Nduta in bed.

Police Constable P. Ireri, attached to Nyahururu Police Station, told an inquest that probed the marathoner’s death that when he responded to a distress call from the runner’s house in Muthaiga estate Nyahururu, he saw Nduta standing on the balcony of the bedroom.

After Wanjiru’s death, multiple women emerged to claim that they were his wives, concubines and baby mamas. Some claimed ownership to some of the properties Wanjiru had acquired.

As the world reeled in shock at his death, it quickly emerged that much of the wealth Wanjiru had acquired would never be recovered. It had either been misused or donated to baby mamas and concubines.

Nearly eleven years later, another star from Central region, Samidoh, appears to be following in Wanjiru’s footsteps of fame, money, women and self-destruction.

As pointed out by Nyanchwani, Samidoh is ranked as one of the most talented musical acts to ever emerge out of the Central region.

He has managed to establish himself and develop a marketing strategy that has broken the glass ceiling and taken his art to the global stage.

However, his life has been dogged with controversies and drama ever since he hooked up with controversial politician Karen Nyamu, who is a nominated Senator.

The climax of this was in a concert in Dubai where the singer was accompanied by his wife Edday Nderitu. During this concert, a drunk Karen Nyamu stormed in and caused chaos to a point of attempting to fight the singer’s wife.

Karen, who is the mother of Samidoh’s two kids, had stalked the singer and his wife to Dubai uninvited. She had earlier on stalked the singer in the US and started online fights with the singer’s promoters.

While most people have blasted Karen for misbehaviors, and others have questioned her mental status, the real problem lies with the singer who is unable to out a leash on his life.

With each step of his famous life aligning with those of the late Kamau Wanjiru, the big question is; will his chaotic side women bring him down as Wanjiru’s chaotic women did eleven years ago?
