Several students from Moi University were injured after their bus was involved in a road accident at Kimende along the Naivasha-Nairobi Highway.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, March 27, as the students were en route to Mombasa for an academic trip. The bus reportedly veered off the road and overturned, causing injuries to the students on board.
The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, with Police investigating the cause of the accident. No casualties have been reported.
This accident occurred barely two weeks after another bus belonging to Kenyatta University crashed in Voi, Taita Taveta County, while also heading to Mombasa.
The bus collided with a truck in Voi on Monday, March 18, leaving 11 students dead and 42 others injured.
“The driver of the bus was overtaking a fleet of vehicles, and it was raining heavily,” police said, adding that the bus swerved to the right side of the road to avoid hitting the lorry, which hit one side and ripped it off, killing 10 students on the spot.
The tragedies have raised serious concerns about road safety and the need for enhanced measures to prevent further loss of life on Kenyan roads.
