Shirleen Mukami received immense emotional and material support when she went public with her struggle in raising her child as a single mother. Shirleen narrated how she had been abandoned by the child’s father. She had been forced to drop out of school to raise the child.
“Hello, Twitter. I’m Shirleen Mukami, a 20-year-old single mother of one boy whom I was blessed with on June 15th 2021. He’ll be turning 5 months in the next few days. But what’s there to celebrate!? It’s been a ride of hell and unbearable heartbreaks and pain,”
she had said.
She said that she had launched an organization dubbed Baby Shower Sisters that would help support other young mothers facing similar situations in life.
“Kenyans, kindly support our little ‘Baby Shower Sisters’ initiative. We’ve been doing little and can’t mind doing much. Going out more. Meeting more mothers and healing our minds. I don’t even have much myself. But it’s by giving that I have been receiving a diaper or two myself,”
she said on Twitter.
“This is basically a support group where myself and three more young mothers visit other young mothers like us. Mothers whose baby daddies disappeared. Mothers who didn’t experience the love of pregnancy. Mothers who didn’t experience a baby shower. Broken mothers just like us.”
Moved by her sob story, Kenyans in their thousands sent her contributions to Shirleen. Within two days, contributions had hit half a million shillings. As at Monday, November 15, contributions stood at over Sh. 800,000.
But now it has emerged that 20-year-old Shirleen Mukami was lying about her story. In fact, revelations show that her story was a conspiracy which Shirleen had prepared together with her baby daddy Kenneth Gachie alias Cabu Gah to defraud unsuspecting well wishers.

Shirleen’s cover was busted by Instagram blogger Edgar Obare in a series of screenshots that showed conversations between Cabu Gah and one of his friend discussing the plot and the outcome.
