With Form 34A posted on the IEBC portal, it became easy for people to download and tabulate the election results.

As days went by, it became increasingly clear who between Raila Odinga and William Ruto would win the election, with multiple independent tallies giving Ruto the win with a 50.3 per cent to 50.5 per cent score.

Now that the results are out, multiple analysts have come out to explain what might have gone wrong. Here is an analysis by sociologist Viscount K’Owuor that looked at the main reasons why Raila has lost his fifth bid for president:

“We are all leaders at different levels, and we must show leadership in our own small way.

As we wait for the statement of our HERO and LEADER Raila Odinga, we pray that he is not misled by cheap, inward looking and sycophantic advisers into going to the Supreme Court.

We don’t need a court case in this election. We don’t need another protracted contest about this election. Above all, we don’t need another embarrassing moment.

We must move on.

I won’t comment on the veracity of the results as announced by Chebukati because the truth is known . If there’s an injustice that occurred at some point , let’s leave that to God and to fate.

But one thing that I know for sure is that some few people terribly failed our HERO and LEADER Raila Amolo Odinga.

Uhuru Kenyatta failed Raila Odinga.

Raphael Tuju failed Raila Odinga.

Junet Mohamed failed Raila Odinga.

Ndiritu Muriithi failed Raila Odinga.

Let me break it down.

Uhuru Kenyatta and Ndiritu Muriithi had all the intelligence that Mt. Kenya region won’t buy the idea of Raila Odinga as president. The people there made it so clear.

But Uhuru refused to accept reality and direct Raila to concentrate on his strongholds. As we sweated to climb Mt Kenya , we left our strongholds exposed . As a consequence, we lost huge votes in Western ( especially Bungoma), in Nairobi and Coast.

If the Kamba took to heart the fact that we denied them the running mate position that they honestly deserved , our defeat would have been more painful.

Uhuru’s bad government policies were another baggage our HERO and LEADER Raila Odinga didn’t need to carry.

Secondly, Ndiritu Muriithi, Raphael Tuju and Junet Mohamed badly mismanaged Raila’s campaigns. They did not put the best brains at work. Junet in particular goofed throughout .

We had no clear strategy in winning this election right from the beginning

They did nothing during the recruitment and deployment of election officers .

They had no master plan for vote mobilization before and during the polling day.

They had no master plan to ensure that we had well trained AGENTS in ALL polling stations countrywide, and they were well fed and paid .

They left the agents at the mercy of County Secretariats who mistreated them. I’ve evidence that Kisumu county Azimio Presidential Election Agents were mistreated.

Even when it was evident that thousands of Raila supporters had not come out to vote , no attempts were made to identify them and look for them to come and vote.

Winning this election for Azimio was going to be very easy if you look at the margin William Ruto has defeated Raila Odinga with. Numbers would have been tilted by just one strategy – ensuring best turn out for Raila’s turn outs.

Kindly don’t sell me some crap that turn out was poor countrywide. We ought to have used that to our advantage.

Mt. Kenya had no candidate. They were going to get a Deputy President either way. What obligation did they have to turn out to vote ?

Lastly, the dramas at Bomas has greatly embarrassed us. No serious warrior resorts to drama in the face of defeat. You realize nothing was achieved by the dramas. Even that division among the IEBC Commissioners is all drama. It absolutely has no legal Consequences.

Raila Odinga has done his very best for this country. The Luo community has made immense contributions towards the democratization of this country. He and We need no more PAIN and TRAUMA.

Our people must be allowed to rest and reflect on the way forward.

We have not lost everything. We have Governors, Senators , MPs and MCAs. Our Constitution will ensure we get resources for development. Above all there’s Providence ( God ).”
