When the 2020 Land Rover Defender was unveiled in Kenya mid last year, it immediately caught the eye of rich Kenyans. The launch attracted high bids as rich Kenyans scrambled to buy the vehicle. Each unit was selling at between Sh. 11 million and Sh. 21.6 million.
According to Inchcape Kenya Limited, who were the dealers for the vehicle Line-up that includes the luxurious Range Rover family and the versatile Discovery SUVs, four of 15 units that were initially shipped in were sold out in hours
The interest that the vehicle generated was in all given instances not so far fetched.
Few SUVs have as much pure off-road credibility as the legendary Land Rover Defender.
The Ultimate Expedition Machine dates back seven decades and has done it all, from crossing mountains to fording rivers and everything imaginable in between.
The new design came with either two-door Defender 90 or four-door Defender 110, both of which were world-class experts, off and of on-road. It also came with six trim models – Defender, S, SE, HSE, First Edition or Defender X.
The 2020 Land Rover Defender boasts of a 395 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, making it capable of towing up to 8,201 pounds.
Additional features include an MHEV technology which allows it to jump from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 5.7 seconds and keep it going all the way to a top speed of 129 miles per hour.
