A popular television actress has come out to speak on the tough times she went through in the slums of Nairobi. Sandra Dacha, who starred in the NTV program Auntie Boss as Silprosa narrated how at some point, she lived in a mud house in whose rent was Sh. 100 per month.
“That amount may look little but back then, it was quite tough to get. The landlord threatened to evict me a number of times but a friend would rescue me with the payment,” she said.
Things went south after Dacha completed her secondary education and started hustling in Nairobi. At the time, she worked as a set book player. She also tried her hand in small businesses including hawking chapatis in the streets. When things improved, she upgraded to a mabati house where she paid rent Sh. 200 monthly rent.
She finally managed to get an acting role under Moon Beam Productions. Interestingly, she got the job without auditioning for the position. “It was my body size and my big personality that landed me that job without having to audition,” she said.

Sandra Dacha has since ventured into other hustles such as interior designing for plus size women, MC, and digital influencer. She has also secured acting roles in popular programs such as Inspekta Mwala and MNET’s Hospital.
The Auntie Boss actress further revealed how at one point in her life, she suffered a rape ordeal while hawking groundnuts at Lunar Park. “It was around evening, I asked if someone could drop me in Mukuru where I was staying with my mother. A man volunteered but ended up taking me to his house. He later in the night sneaked into the room, raped me and gave me Sh. 1,000 to go home the following morning,” she said.
