Akothee Kenya: The onset of coronavirus in Kenya has forced many people to readjust their lifestyles. Subsequently, many have had to slash down on budgets. Others, though, have seized the moment to save more than they would usually do. One of these is Esther Akoth popularly known as Akothee.

In Kenya’s entertainment scene, there is no doubt that Akothee is one of the richest celebrities Kenya has to offer. From high end vehicles, to mansions and businesses, the singer has managed to built a great deal of wealth. Recently, though, she revealed that she has taken advantage of the pandemic’s social restructuring to improve on her savings.

Since the pandemic began, she has been saving up to Sh. 2 million per month on bills.

The singer made these revelations during an Instagram live session with movie star Lupita Nyong’o.

Akothee said that since the pandemic, her bills had reduced significantly because she has been spending time in the house.

“I was just all over the place for nothing and my bills reduced from Sh. 3.5 million a month to Sh. 1.5 million, Covid really toned me down,” she said. “I really grew. I got time to bond with my kids apart from the one living in France because of the lockdown. I realised I didn’t need a lot of people around me. Before, I would walk around with not less than 10 people because I have no freedom. After Covid, I actually found out I can stay in my house for a whole month, and it gave me the opportunity to even think much more. I identified the kind of a person I am. I worked on my emotions and developed quite a lot.”
