All flights from Kenya to Dubai banned

Kenya Dubai Flights: All flights from Kenya to Dubai have been banned. This includes all transit passenger flights from Kenya. The ban will last for the next 48 hours. It comes as Kenya scrambles resources to cope with the rising cases of the Covid-19disease. The new ban took effect on Monday, December 20, 2021, at 9.30 am Kenyan time.

However, the suspension of flights does not affect cargo freights and passenger flights from Dubai to Nairobi.

“Please be informed that the operations of all air transport services for inbound and transit passenger movements to Emirates of Dubai from any point in the Republic of Kenya are temporarily suspended for 48 hours effective December 20, 2021,” a notice from the Dubai authorities said.

Following the ban, Emirates Airlines suspended flights. “Customers will not be accepted for travel on Emirates flights at Nairobi during this time,” the airline said on Monday. Kenya now joins Nigeria which has also been banned.

If the ban is extended, Kenya’s tourism sector could be greatly affected going into the Christmas holidays. This is because Dubai is a popular tourist destination among Kenyans.
