In a gazette notice dated June 21, KRA will be auctioning different types of cars and imported goods which have overstayed in different customs warehouses in the port.
“The declared purchasers must deposit 25% of the purchase price by the close of business on the auction day into the BANK ACCOUNT OF KENYA REVENUE AUTHORITY (K.R.A.) TO BE PROVIDED DURING THE AUCTION and the balance paid within seven (7) days from the auction date into the same account, failure to which the money received including the deposit will be forfeited,” a statement on the KRA vehicle auctioning said.
In addition to the auctioning, KRA will also be auctioning an assortment of goods that have also overstayed at the taxman’s depots at the Mombasa port. Over the past few months, KRA has stepped up auctions, with a couple of auctions being held in the months of May and June this year.
