Death Sentence? Mwalimu Rachel charged with robbery with violence

Popular radio presenter Mwalimu Rachel is risking a death sentence after she was charged in court with robbery with violence. The radio star who features on NRG Radio was charged the Kikuyu Law Courts on January 31 with robbery with violence, contrary to section 299 (2) of the Penal Code.

She was accused of robbing Martin Mbugua of valuables worth Sh. 103,000. Ms. Rachel was charged alongside four others who were not in court.

According to the charge sheet, Mwalimu Rachel and her her four accomplices committed the crime on January 17 at Kinoo, Kikuyu sub-county within Kiambu County. They allegedly, violently, robbed Mbugua of a wrist watch worth Sh. 35,000, two silver chains valued at Sh. 65,000 and Sh. 3,600 in cash.

“On the 17th day of January 2020 at Kinoo 87 area in Kikuyu sub-county in Kiambu county, jointly with four others not in court, she robbed Martin Mbugua Njeri of two silver chains, valued at Sh. 65,000, a wristwatch worth Sh. 35,000 and Sh. 3600. All of a total value of Sh. 103,600,” the charge sheet read.

She pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on a Sh. 10,000 cash bail. The case will be heard on February 13. If found guilty, she will face the death sentence which accompanies the crime of robbery with violence.
