Police chase, arrest 9-year-old driving along Mombasa Road

Police arrested a nine-year-old who was driving along Mombasa Road on Wednesday.

The mine was in the company of his father who was on the passenger seat.

The child’s seven-year-old sister was in the back sit. When the police noticed the boy driving, they flagged him down. But instead of stopping, he accelerated towards Athi River.

The police then pursued the boy. According to Athi River Base Commander Agnes Makau, they caught up with him before he entered a private school in Athi River where he and his sister attended.

“Our officers managed to corner the boy, who was driving at high speed, before he went past the school gate. He was driving dangerously and he had not fastened the safety belt,” Makau said.
