Co-op Bank named overall winner in top financial awards

The Co-operative Bank of Kenya is this year’s overall Sustainable Finance Catalyst Awards’ winner. The awards which include banks and other financial sector players were hosted by the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA).

The bank scooped top honours in commercial cases study as well as operations and policies, in which it garnered the most awards.

This award has come as a vindication of the Co-operative Bank’s commitment to offering ethical, friendly and efficient banking solutions.

“As a bank that is predominantly owned by the 14 million-member co-operative movement, we are inclusive by design which has not only enabled us to deliver shared prosperity today, but also helped us build an awareness and prudence to avoid putting future generations in jeopardy,” Co-op Bank’s Group Managing Director Gideon Muriuki said.

Currently, Co-op Bank is one of the most profitable lenders in the country. Over the past two years, the bank has been rolling out digital products that have ensured that its growing customer base is able to access banking services wherever they are across the country without the hustle of traveling or queuing at the traditional banking halls.

Some of these products include the Co-op Kwa Jirani banking agency, and MCo-op Cash mobile banking product which allows customers to carry out banking transactions from the comfort of their mobile phones.
