All pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools are in their final term of the year as per the Education Ministry’s school calendar.
According to the calendar released in December last year, third time commenced on August 26, 2024, and is set to run until October 25, 2024,
Learners will then break for a long holiday from October 28, 2024, till January 3, 2025.
Notably, there will be no KCPE examination, with the candidates expected to sit for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and the Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) exams.
The tests will run for three days from October 28 to October 30, 2024. Additionally, the examinations for the third cohort of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) will begin on October 28, with students sitting for Mathematics and English.

This will be followed by Integrated Science and Kiswahili on October 29, and the exams will conclude with Creative Arts and Social Studies on October 30, 2024.
The KCSE examination, on the other hand, will run for three weeks, from November 4 to November 22.
Candidates will have their rehearsal on October 18, with oral, practical and foreign paper on October 22, 2024, to November 1, 2024.
The exam will begin with English Paper One in the morning and Chemistry Paper One in the afternoon.
Unlike previous KCSE papers, this year papers will be customized with students names, index number and other personal details pre-printed on the papers.
Previously, candidates have been required to write down their names, index number and other personal details in spaces provided in the exam papers.
KNEC CEO David Njengere explained that the move will help curb cheating as well as cases of impersonation, which is an examination malpractice, previously reported, though in rare instances.
Additionally, at the end of each paper, the section containing the candidates’ details will be removed and packed separately to prevent examiners from identifying the candidates while marking.
Some 965,501 candidates have registered for the 2024 KCSE examination, a 6.89 percent increase compared to the 903,264 candidates who sat the examination in 2023.
