From 3 to 300 trucks: 4 Kenyans who owned mega trucking business in US

It is never easy for anyone to leave Kenya for the United States and make it. There are so many challenges along the way that kill your American dream. But in a show of determination, four Kenyans partner for six years and excelled massively in the trucking business in US after leaving Kenya.

The four Kenyans had a trucking business which they started with just 3 trucks. By 2019 when they shared their business success story, the four had a business running over 300 trucks.

The business was known as Seagate Holdings and was based in Dallas, Texas. The business was formed in 2014 through a partnership by Alex Karundu, Michael Njenga, Herbert Lang’at and Bernard Lang’at.

The four originally moved to the US more than 20 years ago for further studies.

Each of the four partners held an executive position in the company. Mike Njenga was the Seagate’s President and was in charge of business development.

Alex Karundu was the director of risk management, Herbert Lang’at was the director of operations while Bernard Lang’at was the chief finance officer.

The company had five major subsidiaries; Seagate Freight, Dolphin Carriers, Neptune Trucking, Dolphin Brokerage, and Dolphin Fulfillment Warehousing.
