2015 Toyota Sienta: The Toyota Sienta is one of the vehicles in Kenya used for both family and commercial purposes. It has been known to be very reliable withstanding abuse of all sorts.

This small multipurpose vehicle has NOT been the best looking car in Toyota’s line-up. It has always been the ugly duckling, but that has now come to pass.

The Sienta has evolved into a sleek and stylish looking multi-purpose vehicle or mini-van as you would call it.

It has not only evolved on the looks; it has packed in some better performance and fuel economy.

The 2015 Sienta denoted as NSP170; comes with an option of 3 engines. It also comes with a Hybrid option and 2WD and ,4WD option. This is for the Japanese domestic market which we mostly import from.

How to check the car engine when buying a used car

The 1500cc 2NR-FKE a very interesting and crazily efficient engine from Toyota..I have written about it on this article on my Facebook page.

The Toyota Sienta Hybrid is coming with the 1NZ-FXE. The “X” on the engine code according to Toyota’s engine naming convention means that it is hybrid. The 1NZ-FXE (used on the Toyota Prius) is a variant of the 1NZ-FE but specifically designed for Hybrid applications.

Wokabi: Why Toyotas will remain top choice for most Kenyans

The 4WD variant of the 2015 Toyota Sienta will come with the older 1NZ-FE that was used in the previous Sienta ( the Old model as we Kenyans call them)

I have a feeling it will be a favourite to many because of the legacy reliability of the 1NZ -FE that has done well on the Probox, Fielder, Ractis, Rumion, Porte and many others.

The other notable feature that has changed on the NSP 170 is the gear shifter. It is no longer on the dashboard.

It has moved to the floor to pave way for a 6 speed manual transmission. The 6 speed manual transmission is however not available in the Japanese Domestic Market but you can import one from Singapore or Thailand. The ones from Singapore and Thailand also come with an 1800cc 2ZR-FE, the engine used on the Premio ZRT260.

The 2015 Sienta is also more spacious compared to its elder sister. It comes as a 7 seater, a 6 seater, and most interestingly a 5 seater option for wheel chair users.

Its fuel economy is even better, especially for the 2NR-FKE engine and the Hybrid 1NZ-FXE. I must say it’s an exciting entrant into the Kenyan used car market.
